New constitution through political consensus: Chairman Rana

Dhangadhi, Nov 23: Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Pashupati Shumsher Rana has said the new constitution would be promulgated through a political consensus.

At a news conference organised here today, Chairman Rana said there was slim change of promulgating the new constitution on coming January 22 as it would take time to forge consensus among political parties.

He however said that the incumbent Constituent Assembly (CA) would promulgate the new constitution.

Responding to a query, the RPP Chairman said the issue of two-third process was brought to exert pressure on the 22-party alliance for forging a consensus in constitution writing.

On a different note, Chairman Rana said the claim for chairmanship of the party by leader Lokendra Bahadur Chand was insignificant as the party’s statute has already scrapped the provision of rotational system for chairmanship.
